Meet the Moss Family
I was raised in a Pastor's family in South-Central Pennsylvania. Having been taught the gospel from the beginning, I understood as a young child that I was a sinner. On December 5, 1985, I called upon the Lord to take away my sin and wash my heart white as snow. At the age of seven I surrendered my life to the Lord, to do whatever He would have me to do. Having been homeschooled K-12, I later had the privilege of attending a Bible College where I received a BA in Church Music with voice, and a minor in Biblical Greek.
I grew up in a small town in south central Iowa. While my family, at that time, did not know Christ, God placed many Christians around us in the form of baby-sitters, friends, and cousins. A friend invited my twin sister, Lacy, to church our junior year of high school. Through this, the pastor was able to visit my parents and answer many questions they had, pointing them back to God's Word for the answers. This really made an impression upon my parents, so they continued to attend church and ask questions. On my 17th birthday, my mother accepted Christ as her Savior, and two weeks later, my father did as well. I was still struggling with going to church THREE times a week -- but on July 11, 1999, I realized my sins for what they were and my need for Jesus as my Savior, and He gloriously saved me, unworthy as I am. After graduating from high school, the Lord directed for me to attend a Bible College where I graduated with a major in Medical Office Administration and a minor in Bible.
How We Met
We met in College our freshman year. During one semester, chapel seats were assigned by birthdays --YES, we have the same birthday. We married in August of 2004, praying that God would direct us where He wanted us to go. We looked into going to Tanzania as Bible translators, but God closed that door and called us back to Corydon, Iowa. Looking back, we see that God wanted us to be willing to do WHATEVER He asked of us. Sam has been the manager of a concrete precast company and we were able to minister in the local church with music, teach Sunday School classes, and serve with South Iowa Bible Camp. We can see that God has been using this time to help us grow and prepare us for the ministry.
In January/February of 2010, Sam, Pastor Terry Swanson, and another young man from our church went to Arua, Uganda on a 2-week trip to minister with Marvin and Jewell Wright. They were able to help with construction on the Grace and Peace Bible Institute. During this trip, the Lord began to burden Sam's heart specifically with the needs for church planting in Arua, and for teachers in the Bible Institute. At the same time, the Lord worked in Nicole's heart to be willing to pack her bags upon Sam's return, should the Lord be calling us to Uganda. Having spent much time in prayer, God has made this calling sure, and we look forward to all that He has in store for us in the days ahead.
God has blessed us with three sons, who are also excited about being missionaries in Uganda. Levi is 7 years old, Silas is 6, and Elijah is 4. Each one is a blessing, and we are excited to see how God will use them in the ministry.
