Uganda is landlocked in East Africa by Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Democratic Republic of the Congo. Uganda has been called the "Pearl of Africa" and is known for its friendly people.

The population is roughly 34 million people with a life expectancy of 53 years. HIV/AIDS and Malaria are common diseases.

English is the Official Language. It is taught in the schools and is used for legal purposes. Around 66% of the population is literate.

Uganda has a Republic government system and elects a president every 5 years.

Over 80% of the Ugandan work force is employed in agriculture with coffee being Uganda's major export.

While much of Uganda is rural, 9.3 million people do have cell phones.

Lugbara (The local ethnic group of Aura) is 4.2% of the total population of Uganda. The Lugbara language is also spoken in Dem. Rep. of the Congo, and in Sudan.
